NEET PG 2026 Scorecard: Marks, Percentile and Rank Explained

NEET PG 2026 is the first cycle on the revised 720-mark pattern, with 180 questions instead of 200 and 720 total marks instead of 800. This changes how your marks translate to a percentile and rank. Do not compare your 2026 marks directly to previous years’ cutoffs, which were calculated on the 800-mark scale.

Term What it means
Raw marks Your score out of 720
Percentile Your position relative to all candidates
Qualifying percentile 50th for General, 40th for reserved
All India Rank (AIR) Your merit position among all qualified
Category rank Your rank within your category

Use the NEET PG rank predictor to estimate your rank from your expected marks, and the score calculator to compute your score on the 720 pattern.

NEET PG Cutoff 2026: Qualifying Percentile 2026

The qualifying cutoff is the minimum percentile you need to be eligible for counselling. It is set by NBEMS and announced with the result. It is separate from the admission cutoff, which is decided during counselling and determines which rank gets which branch and college.

Category Qualifying Percentile
General / EWS 50th percentile
OBC / SC / ST 40th percentile
General-PwBD 45th percentile

For context, the 2025 qualifying cutoff, on the old 800-mark scale, was 276 for General and 235 for SC/ST. Because the 2026 exam is on 720 marks, the equivalent qualifying marks will be lower. The percentile stays the same. NBEMS announces the exact 2026 cutoff marks with the result.

FAQ

NEET PG Result 2026, FAQs

The NEET PG 2026 result is expected by the end of September 2026, typically 3 to 5 weeks after the August 30 exam. In 2025, the result came about two weeks after the exam. NBEMS declares the result at natboard.edu.in.

Visit natboard.edu.in, click the NEET PG 2026 result link, and download the merit list PDF. Search for your roll number to check your qualifying status. Individual scorecards with marks, percentile, and rank are available a few days after the merit list.

The qualifying percentile is the 50th percentile for General and EWS candidates, and the 40th percentile for OBC, SC, and ST candidates. This determines eligibility for counselling. NBEMS announces the equivalent cutoff marks on the 720 scale with the result.

The qualifying percentile stays the same, but the equivalent cutoff marks will be lower than previous years because the 2026 exam is on 720 marks instead of 800. Do not compare your 2026 marks directly to past cutoffs. NBEMS declares the exact 2026 cutoff with the result.

Since NEET PG 2026 is a single-shift exam, all candidates take the same paper, so no normalisation is applied. Your rank is based on your raw marks out of 720. In case of a tie, NBEMS applies tie-breaking criteria such as age. Your All India Rank determines your counselling position.

Qualified candidates register for counselling. MCC conducts All India Quota (50%) counselling and state authorities conduct state quota (50%) counselling. You fill choices, and seats are allotted by rank and preference. Download your scorecard as it is required for registration.
